Our Beginnings
The Way began in early September 2006, with our inaugural services held at the Delta Town and Country Inn. For the first few weeks, The Way was known simply as "Breakfast Church." An invitation was extended by Mike and Terrie Sherbino to approximately thirty friends to join them for breakfast and church. Those thirty contacts, in turn, invited more than 130 people to that first breakfast. As part of an accountability factor, Mike had invited Lowell and Penny Breckon, Dave Hughes, Ray Tetzel, Yvonne Anderson, Janice Roper, Clara Collins and Ken Gallie to be the Board of Directors for Finding the Way Ministries. In partnership with the Lord, those individuals, their families and other committed friends were key in seeing this new church take root. Finding the Way Ministries was, and is, a ministry created to use various forms of media to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. It has been out of that charitable ministry that The Way Community Church was birthed.

As the church took root through the Fall of 2006, finding a permanent rental facility became a challenge. Once in October and twice in November, the church moved its Sunday service into the parking lot of The Town and Country Inn, where a tent was erected to hold the Sunday service. Two of the three services were held in heavy rainstorms which did nothing to dampen the spirit and hope of the 200 people who gathered. In early December, the church moved into the Silver City, Riverport theatre complex where it continues to meet, using up to five theatres each week to run the Sunday morning program.

A Ministry Centre at #1121, 11871 Horseshoe Way in Richmond currently provides us with offices and a place for small meetings.

Our Mission A community of people dedicated to finding and following the Way. "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." John 14:6.

Our Vision Helping people find the Way, follow the Way and share the Way in our community and world.

Our church is a community of believers with Jesus Christ as its Head. We seek to love, respect and care for one another as a demonstration of our love for God. We do this as a large group on Sundays as well as midweek in smaller groups, called Life Groups. In a Life Group, you will find people meeting together for worship, prayer, and interactive teaching. It is a safe place where you can develop authentic relationships, and where you can be real and honest with others as they are with you. It is also a place for growth as we challenge each other to live out our beliefs.

Our outreach is to those who have no church home. Many people today are disillusioned with religion. They have felt the sting of legalism with its impossible demands. Some have seen hypocrisy. Others have had no religious background and therefore see Christianity as irrelevant. We believe the missing element has been healthy relationships with mature believers in Jesus.

Join us Sundays at 10:00 am at SilverCity Theatres, Riverport.
